Such a thing as love?

Why did Jesus tell us to love God with all our heart, mind, soul and strength? I think that is simply Mission Impossible. I for one struggle so much to care for my own younger brother, so how could I ever love a perfectly holy GOD? In reality, I am mostly automated by a duty-bound conscience to do the right things. I’ll go out on a limb and simply state that human beings, through the generations, have simply been brought up to care by rote and conditioning. There is really nothing good and noble and altruistic in our plain selves. I am convinced that no one truly loves God. I think that most Christians cling to God for whatever benefits - think healings, providence and Heaven - we can derive from our Creator. The rest of us believers obey God because we really fear ending up in Hell. Alas, what wretched love-less soul that I possess! I think that the LORD Himself will have to fill me with His own love so that I can love Him back the way He wants me to.
